Barbara is a Native German Speaker, Journalist, Interpreter, Translator, Language Tutor and Lecturer with over 12 years’ teaching experience in both one-to-one and group learning contexts. She holds a M.A. in Pedagogy, Social-Psychology and English Studies (Ruhr Universität Bochum, Germany 1990), a M.A. in Translation (Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland 2010), and a Certificate in Social Management Studies (Düsseldorf 1991). She has been a part-time German language tutor at Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland since 1998, and has catered for students at all levels from complete beginners to postgraduates. As a German language specialist, Barbara offers tuition for specific purposes, including German for Business and Tourism and German for Medical Personnel, and can offer specialised individual tuition for any professional field, such as engineering, music and law.

With a MSc. in Mathematics and a BEd. in Education, Bindu is currently studying for her MPhil. She is a fully qualified Tutor with over 10 years’ academic teaching experience gained with students up to and including those at third level.
Bindu has over 6 years’ e-tutoring experience teaching students from The USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Middle East.
She is an active researcher in her chosen field of Mathematics, and has networked and attended conferences internationally. Bindu is our resident Mathematician and loves the challenges involved in solving particularly complex equations!

A fully qualified teacher with a BA (Hons) and PGCE, John taught French for many years in secondary schools in England. John combines his freelance French-English translation work with his teaching in Queens University, Belfast, Northern Ireland. John has extensive overseas tutoring experience, having taught Business English, ESOL and TOEFL for 10 years in the north-west of France before teaching Business English to students and academics in the south of The Country.

Dena Hussein al-Maghraby graduated from Ain Shams University with a BA in English Language and Literature in 2010. She has taken an English Language course in The American University in Cairo, and a French Language course in The French Culture Centre, and she speaks Arabic and fluent English.
She has worked as a translator at Al Gomhoreya newspaper, and she has participated in a number of development and philanthropy projects on behalf of local organisation, Resala.

A fully qualified teacher of French (MA in Teaching French as a Foreign Language) with 7 years’ post qualification experience including a 1-year stint teaching primary and secondary level pupils in Finland and 6 years’ teaching French in the UK, Amélie regularly tutors on undergraduate programmes at Queen’s University Belfast and evening classes at the Institute of Lifelong Learning, also in Belfast. She offers private tuition with adults in addition to GCSE and A-Level preparatory courses.

Yes, we have openings for both part-time and full-time tutors. We are flexible about your working hours.
Normal session duration is between 45 to 60 minutes and although we endeavour to assign the same student to you, this may not always be possible.
We expect our tutors to have a Masters Degree in their subject area, and to be qualified teachers with some teaching experience.
Duties include:
