Child Protection Policy

WiFiTutors.com is a subsidiary of Global Quest Ltd., and our core business is internet tutoring and training. As such, members of our staff very rarely have physical access to children. Nevertheless, as an added means of building trust with clients and potential clients alike, we subscribe to core values of child safety and as per our child protection policy, our staff must never:

• Hit or otherwise physically assault or physically abuse children.
• Develop physical or sexual relationships with children.
• Develop relationships with children that could in any way be deemed exploitative or abusive.
• Act in ways that may be abusive or may place a child at risk of abuse.
• Use language, make suggestions or offer advice which is inappropriate, offensive or abusive.
• Use verbal suggestions or non-verbal gestures which could in any way be construed as sexually provocative.
• Physically behave in a manner which is inappropriate or sexually provocative.
• Perpetrate any form of emotional abuse.
• Discriminate against, show differential treatment, or favour particular children to the exclusion of others.

As a general rule, we discourage our staff from spending excessive time alone with children, unless warranted as a part of their one to one assessment and with prior parental consent. We never allow tutors to take students to their homes. This is not an exhaustive or exclusive list. The principle is that staff should avoid actions or behaviour which may constitute poor practice or potentially abusive behaviour, and we train our staff to:

• Be aware of situations which may present risks and actively manage their relationships to minimise those risks.
• As far as possible, be visible while working with children.
• Ensure that a culture of openness exists so that issues or concerns can be raised and discussed at an early stage.
• Ensure that a sense of accountability exists between staff so that poor practice or potentially abusive behaviour is immediately detected.
• Talk to children about their contact with staff or others and encourage them to raise any concerns.
• Empower children and tell them clearly what is acceptable and unacceptable, and what they can do if there is a problem.
